Slaying Goliath Music Blog – Update

Hello, God’s Creatures,

I know I haven’t visited or uploaded to this blog in a while, but I wanted to give you guys an update on what has been happening since I stopped posting on this.

This blog takes a lot of time and a lot o energy to upkeep. I was searching high and low for music from all around the world so we can come together as a collective to worship God despite having language barriers. I love the church body, regardless of where you reside, and I wanted music and worship to be a part of that. I enjoy searching for the different artists that I showcased. However, I do apologize for not asking for their permission to post on this site as well as on my YouTube channel.

After maintaining this blog for some time, I got discouraged by the lack of support I felt from mainly my friends and family, but people have been expressing how I need to restart this again and see what it turns into. So, I am hoping it turns into a community that comes together. I am hoping I can start multiple Spotify playlists organized by genre, maybe a podcast with different hosts, music interviews, concerts exclusive, etc. I am dreaming with God and being faithful to this.

Most of the comments were to put a face to this blog, but right now, I don’t feel like this like God is moving me in that direction just yet.  My desire is still to make this a worship community that travels across nations and genres. I don’t want to only explore music as a form of worship but it will be one of the foundations of something I am so passionate about.

Which is you will see me, in my free time, updating this blog website, and making the necessary updated changes. So, I do request that you be patient with me with all of this.

I love Jesus and I want this to be something where we can have honest music that explores our doubts, hardships, joys, victories, disappointments, and accomplishments. My goal is to give this blog life again.

I don’t know where this blog is going to go but I am trusting and partnering with God to find out.

Rawsrvt (Eddy Puyol) is a Cuban American that grew up in Miami, Florida. He has an incredible testimony about God’s grace and mercy that he has dedicated to intertwine with the Hip Hop culture and music scene. In 2002, Rawsrnt founded Soul Deep Ministries (SDM), a non-profit organization that is driven to share peace, grace, and love in a unique way to those within schools, neighborhoods, prisons, churches, and various pop culture marketplaces. Its continuing aim is to empower people from all walks of life with the understanding of God’s love and the value placed on their lives.

Rawsrvnt has fine tuned his craft enabling him to reach the masses, breaking through cultural and musical barriers. I know this isn’t the type of music that people typically enjoy, However, as a heavy metal and Christian artist begin to merge, I would say that there is more to come from this genre as a whole. Demon Hunter is a Christian heavy metal band that is based in Seattle, Washington. The band started in 2000 by brothers Ryan and Dan Clark. Their excellent use of guitar riffs accompanied by complex drum lines, the band is known for combing nu metal sounds with the qualities that are found in metalcore.  Plus, their lyrics are awesome!

Thrice — Words in the Water

Thrice (which means three times) is a band from Southern California. This band uses intricate drumming that is accompanied by simplistic bass and guitar riffs. This record in particular is more mellow than their other works. It is atmospheric. This song is inspired from the narrator trying to live up to the word of the Law, that is presented in the Old Testament. It is very impossible for us to do. The words are “beautiful” and dread” but one will ultimately keep failing if one kept trying to fulfill the book of the Law. At the end of the song, it is when Jesus comes and saves the narrator from continuously failing. Jesus already fulfilled the demands and lifted the curse from his heart.

She is truly a breath of fresh air to the hip hop world and a great guide to show us who Christ is and what He has done in her life.
